Little update and sorry i haven’t wrote

Hi my lovely readers, i am sorry i haven’t been around for a few weeks.

I am thinking i’ll be able to get it across in poetry form

and i am feeling a bit creative so here it is…

My head said write, my heart said no.

I am sad to write my friend had to go.

I know hes now not suffering and finally out of pain,

the truth of the matter is he’ll never been seen again.

Its not fair how quick he got ill,

and seeing him the week before he died, saddens me still.

He will always be remembered in a funny smiley way,

those memories will stay with me and never go away.

When you lose a dear friend someone who you can depend

your friendship lives on, in both your hearts, and will never ever end.

We all need to look after ourselves.
I know some of you are thinking- ‘I don’t have time for that’….oh yes you do.
I am pretty sure you can spare 5 minutes and devote it just to you.
Here are 10 ways you can apply a bit of self-love and it will make you feel so much better afterwards

  1. Grab a pen and some paper and write down 5 things that make you happy – then read them back and feel that smile on your face and in your heart,
  2. Listen to your favourite song, even put it on repeat if you like, sing along or dance. Enjoy how it makes you feel.
  3. Prepare your favourite meal/ snack. Have a little feast, It won’t hurt every once in a while.
  4. Light a candle, one with a scent that makes you go mmm. Get all nostalgic. Don’t forget to blow it out once you’re done.
  5. Pamper yourself by applying a face mask or painting your nails. One deserves a pampering every once in a while
  6. Read some of your favourite quotes – Make a board on Pinterest and keep adding to it. In times of need, they can be powerful.
  7. Put on an outfit that you love, or a colour that makes you feel good, or your favourite PJs.
  8. Do a quick yoga session or just sit in peace and meditate. Don’t think of anything in particular. Just be in the now.
  9. Make yourself a hot chocolate or a yummy smoothie and just enjoy.
  10. Soak in the bath or have a nice long shower and just appreciate the me time.

Absolutely everybody gets a down day even the most happiest of people.

Nothing is wrong with looking for advice on how to find that smile again…I’ve done it myself in the past.

So I made this list back along in my journal and until now I didn’t think about sharing it with you.

  1. Grab a DVD (preferably a comedy) some snacks, a blanket and dim the lights.
  2. Light a scented candle, add some bubbles and jump in the tub.
  3. Make yourself an uplifting playlist of songs that make you smile for days when you need to turn to it.
  4. Phone a friend and arrange to meet up- tell them to bring laughter.
  5. Go shopping whether in town or online it is the best sort of therapy.
  6. Draw or write whichever you think your better at and let yourself get super creative.
  7. Go put on an item of clothing that brings you joy, in your fav colour preferably.
  8. Make your favourite meal / snack and really enjoy all the flavours
  9. Go for a walk, feel the fresh air hit your face and take in all the beautiful views you see.
  10. Give a hug to someone it’s so heartwarming and leaves you with that happy fuzzy feeling. You could be cheering up someone else in the process.

WHAT I LOVE: in the month of July


I have had some lovely moments in the month of July with my family. I spent some time looking after my Nephew who is 11. He thinks i am the best Auntie out there because i act silly with him. Plus hes my only Nephew so he feels even more special.

I have seen both my Brother and my Sister, and we usually have takeaway when they come over as its usually of a weekend and bang on tea time (evening meal) so this is usually what i choose .

There is normally a jumbo sausage with my chips but never took a photo without it all covered in mayo and looking not as yummy.

My brothers girls I’ve also seen but both have had chickenpox so not seen them as much over the month as we would have liked.

Lost Weight

I have been on a slow weight loss journey since the end of April and i have lost nearly a stone up to now. I have gone down a dress size and lost a few inches which i am happy about. I don’t deny myself something i want but i try and follow a more healthier way of eating and living.


In England any sunshine is welcomed and i can say we definitely had our share of it as you can see we had 30 degree heat which is quite a scorcher especially because the only air con you generally get here is in your car. The ice lollies were very much appreciated.

Things i bought throughout July

Here are a few of the things i purchased in July

I had a mini fridge about 15 years ago and when it came up on Instagram as something you might like i thought…yes i do like and because of the hot weather i thought perfect edition to my bedroom. i have a few bits of chocolate in there and some sheet face masks. It wasn’t too much either so my purse was happy as well as me.

I am looking at finally getting my scrapbook out and adding more bits so the label maker is a great thing to use for that purpose. There’s also so much more i use it for. Plus its pink.

Whats not to like about it?

When a smart watch is on offer for 40 pounds, pink and a Radley one it was a no brainer. Its only been on my arm a few days so far so good. It does what i want to do. I didn’t want anything too fancy.

A little more about me

In my first post here I wrote about the writer side of me and said I would touch on the pinkaholic side of me too at some point that’s where I got the blog name ‘Words of a pinkaholic ‘ from.

The first time I watched Legally blonde and saw Elle Woods all dressed in pink I was obsessed from then on. How pink made her feel I felt it too. Apart from she was just playing her part in a film. It was real life happiness for me.

When I heard the quote on another one of my favourite films of my teen years ‘On Wednesdays we wear pink’ I was like it doesn’t have to be a Wednesday to wear it bit loved the concept their clique had.

When I’m buying something I must own up that I do have a look if it comes in pink first before looking for it in another colour.

People who know me know me for my love of pink and being girly. I mean I’m not overpowering with it. For instance today I am wearing a black and white polka-dot dress with a pink Alice band.

35 lessons in 35 years

I’m now at the ripe age of 35…I thought it would be good to tell you some things I have learnt in those years that I think are lessons for life and can apply to anyone of any age too.

Feel free to take note of these on paper or your phone

Ok so let’s jump right in

1. Take a deep breath it calms the mind

2. Nobody is perfect

3. Time stops for no-one

4. Never judge someone by face value

5. Take life one step at a time, don’t rush it.

6. Older people have valuable advice…that’s why they get called wise owls

7. Never feel pressured, stand your ground

8. Memories are so very precious, go make them

9. Sometimes it’s worth risking it for a chocolate biscuit

10. Always be proud of who you are

11. Cluttered rooms means cluttered minds

12. Be the friend you’d like to have

13. The first person you fall in love with should always be yourself

14. Life isn’t fair, but it can still be good

15. Budgeting your money will help you in the long run

16. Don’t be afraid to ask for help or advice

17. Document…so you can look back at a later date and reflect

18. Say yes more

19. Spend time with your loved ones…share the love

20. Don’t lose that bit of your inner child

21. Not everyone is going to like you and that’s ok

I have so many lessons that I literally would be here all day typing away. Please know that in life you need to have picked up things along the way that makes you think yes that makes so much sense, and then apply them accordingly.

So here is my take on it. The answers are kept short and sweet so you don’t get bored.

1.What’s the best thing that happened to you this month? I got into an outfit i’ve not been able to get into for over a year.

2. What is something you’re tired of? All the doom and gloom on the news.

3. What is something that recently moved you? I am a bit of a wettie so anything can make me tear up. My mum and auntie are the same. Probably seeing my poorly Dad, he has Dementia.

4. If you could teach one subject in school what would it be? Definitely sex education / personal development. Didn’t learn enough of it when i was at school.

5. What’s your favourite beverage? Hot Chocolate – Options salted caramel, it’s delicious.

6. What’s your favourite cocktail? Not really a cocktail girl, i reckon a woo woo if i had to have one Vodka, peach shnapps and cranberry juice.

7. What is your favourite birthday cake? Victoria sponge, jam and cream are just mmm and icing. Actually used to prefer the icing to the cake when i was younger.

8.What is one thing you still have from your childhood? The passion to write

9. What is your favourite movie? Bridget Jones Diary followed closely by Burlesque. I can relate to Bridget being in my 30s and single and Burlesque it’s something to do thats on my bucket list.

10. What is something you can’t do? Whistle outwards. can do it beautifully inwards

11. What is one habit you wish you could break? Eating cheese. I really really like it.

12. What makes you laugh no matter what? Miriam Margoyles. Google her.. shes hilarious.

13. What does creativity mean to you? Finding inspiration and running with it, using whatever form of creativity you can whether its singing, dancing, acting, writing or art.

18. Must have item in your bag? Sunnies. I suffer with watery eyes if the sun or wind hits me. Don’t want my make up to run

19. What did you want to do with your life at age 12? Be a singer or an author. I can’t sing too well these days but writing comes easy to me

20. What is something you will not be doing in ten years? Worrying about the opinions of others. it’s something we all do.

21. What is an important life lesson for someone to learn? A true friend stand the test of time and distance.

23. Would you ever live anywhere besides where you live? Maybe but i wouldn’t want to be too far from my family. They mean the world to me.

42. Cooking or Baking? I like a bit of both. Baking is trial and error, some are Michelin star and some are 1 star. ha ha.

45. Skiing or Surfing? Surfing but i’d be more in the water than on the board

46. First celebrity crush? Chesney Hawkes and my first single i bought.

48. What colour was your prom dress? It was yellow and white. I felt like a princess for the night.

51. Age when you were first kissed? 7, most of my neighbours were boys wanting to play kiss chase and i couldn’t run fast enough.

52. Place you were first kissed? Nowhere romantic. The back alley way by my house.

53. Favourite fashion trend of all time? The 90s… Coloured corded flares and boob tubes. Cringe but fun times.

54. Best fashion advice you’ve ever received? Never wear a shell suit again. i loved mine but looking back they were sooo dangerous, they were flammable.

56. Shoes or Bags? That’s tricky but i think i have more bags than shoes.

57. How do you know if you’re in love? You have that butterfly feeling, your heart skips a beat and you act so giddy around them. Nothing else matters when you are in their presence. All your worries fade away.

59. Who do you turn to when you’re sad? My Mum, always guaranteed to put a smile on my face.

For years i did this and it made me feel like i was a nobody i really didn’t feel like i was seen as someone special.

I hid myself, away from all the things i wanted to do, from all the opportunities, because i didn’t feel pretty or worthy of being loved. So in turn because of that i didn’t think others would want to appreciate me as a person,

How wrong was i?

Yes i had acne until my early 20s which at school got me beat up but in reality i shoudn’t let this dictate my days. i should be getting out there living this life i have been given. So with supportive people around me i found the courage.

The courage to work within the general public, where i was serving people every day, interacting and having people looking straight at me. As my confidence grew i put myself forward for jobs i had always wanted to do. It felt like a weight had been lifted

I lost the best part of my teenage years and the start of my 20s because i was so insecure. Fast forward 10 years i am a totally different person. The camera is my friend and i would rather be seen and heard than to shy away.
